Cobham Sea Tel Company T-Shirt - 2017
Sea Tel specializes in Marine Stabilized Antenna Systems for Satellite Communications (two-way communications) and Satellite Television-at-Sea. Sea Tel has more systems installed operating around the world than anyone.
Sea Tel needed a brand new t-shirt for their employees to wear around the office, at conferences and out and about in their daily lives. They wanted their brand new Tracker 4000 Satellite featured on the shirt with the dome casing. They want people to notice the shirt in passing and want people to become intrigued and to ask what is that?
THE PROBLEM TO SOLVE
Sea Tel employees were not impressed with their last company t-shirts and did not like wearing them outside of the office. Their previous shirts lack any visual appeal and do not tell anyone who and what Sea Tel is. The new design needs to be eye catching and tell the story of what Seat Tel does.
FIRST STEPS
Working directly with the head of HR and the printer made working on this project seamless. I was provided with images of their satellite and dome and asked to make it pop! Below are the images I was provided and an early wire model of the dome and satellite.
THE CONCEPTS
After finishing the wire frame of the dome and satellite - ideas started flowing! The design package that Sea Tel chose included 3 design concepts and 3 different color options. Since the shirt will be screen printed, they were limited to how many colors they could use. Below are the 3 concepts that were presented.
THE FINAL STAGES
The designs above were exactly what they were looking for. Something fun and intriguing and also tells people what Sea Tel does! These 3 designs were shown to a few employees - one person said that they would actually wear this outside of a work function. Another said can we have one of each? In the end, only one could be chosen. They ended up choosing the first design - with a few simple changes.
FINAL THOUGHTS
This was a very fun project - and a rather quick one too! This project took less than a month to do. The client knew exactly what they wanted, which is always helpful. I was able to have a lot of creative freedom with this project. One of their final reviews to me was - "These are terrific - you are hired from now on!"
